WABE 2026 Annual Conference

In this interactive session, participants explore GLAD strategies that build academic language across grade levels and content areas. Classroom-ready tools such as visuals, 10/2, gestures, and color-coding support multilingual learners’ academic vocabulary development. Participants leave with immediately usable strategies that increase student talk, engagement, and equitable access to rigorous instruction.

What if using sentence frames sometimes restricts language learning rather than supporting it? Teachers need to explicitly and systematically teach the language of both the frames and the blanks. Come discuss how and when to use sentence frames along with strategies to ensure students are prepared to produce desired language.
