In this session, we will share templates, toolkits, and strategies using the OSPI Multilingual Learner Statewide Strategic Plan. We will explore how to integrate multilingual learners in a Multi-tiered System of Supports, develop strong pathways for graduation, and leverage multilingual students and families' assets through culturally responsive practices. This session explores how science can be a powerful space for bilingual learners to thrive. Participants examine culturally affirming, language-rich instructional strategies that support sensemaking, elevate multilingual student voices, and expand equitable access to meaningful science learning for all students.

This interactive presentation will provide guidance for some of the most common logistical questions around secondary DL programs like: What courses to teach? How to include newcomer or heritage students? How to maintain bilingual/biliteracy trajectories? Come prepared to consider the policies, practices, and structures of successful secondary DL programs!

Through storytelling and reflection, this session invites leaders to explore identity, equity, and advocacy for multilingual learners. Participants will learn strategies to reduce barriers without lowering expectations, amplify student voice, and lead with cultural humility.
