WABE 2026 Annual Conference

D'Mario Carter is a dynamic educator, author, poet, and spoken word artist dedicated to uplifting students and creating inclusive learning spaces. As a middle and high school Multilingual (ML) teacher, he centers culturally responsive practices and empowers students to use language as a tool for identity, confidence, and self-expression. Beyond the classroom, D'Mario serves as the facilitator for his school's Black Student Union (BSU), fostering leadership, community, and belonging among students of color. He is also a committed girls' and boys' basketball coach at the middle school level, using sports as another avenue to mentor youth and build strong relationships. A published author of his poetry book All In, D'Mario's creative work reflects the same passion he brings to teaching - connecting with people through authenticity, storytelling, and meaningful dialogue.
